Oscar Special

Yes, movie criticism might be dead. It’s true that there are important questions to be answered about the ways popular culture sustains and supports conventions of patriarchy past and present, and there may be reason to lament (or celebrate) our celebrity chasing culture, and well, other things, too…

But the Oscars are tonight. A great excuse for a Sunday night party. A great excuse to gamble. A great excuse to kvetch about clothes and insufferable buffoons and admire graciousness and excellence of craft, too.

Who’s going to win? Who should win? Who will win, but shouldn’t?
