HW’s Loop Players are 8 days away from going live with Bus Stop. They (students, faculty, staff) have invested hundreds and hundreds of hours in preparation time, and unfortunately they have a problem, which just happens to be an opportunity for someone…From the new director of HW’s Loop Players, Kathryn Nash:
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the prop master for “Bus Stop” will not be able to stay past 9:00 on performance nights, and that makes running the show out of the question since the play will run a little past 9:00 and the crew usually stays about a half hour after the end of the play.
So, I’m looking for someone who is interested in helping out and I thought it might help to put in the HWC blog. The prop master/mistress is responsible for coordinating and organizing the hand props, such as all of the diner accoutrement, as well as actual food like donuts, hamburger buns, bologna, milk. All of the props have been assembled and most of them have been rented. We need to have one person responsible for placing them on the stage correctly, and removing them from the set for each performance and locking them in the prop cabinet. It sounds boring, but actually it is a fun job.
Here is the schedule:
6:00 – 10:00 Monday thru Friday this week, then
6:00 – 10:00, M,T, W, F, 1:00 – 4:00 Th, Sat. the week of March 15 – 20
6:00 – 10:00 W, F, 1:00 – 4:00 Th, Sat. March 24 – 27
Total hours = 60
Pay $750 or $12.50 p/hr.
I realize that many of our faculty are already pressed for time. However, they may know someone whose schedule fits the requirments, or has worked in theatre before. Ya never know.
Thanks for your help in getting the word out.
So if you know of someone who has free evenings, is reliable, and wants to pick up some extra scratch, forward them the link to this post or the info above, along with Kathryn’s contact info (312-553-5997, firstname.lastname@example.org). Thanks!
