Welcome to the semester break. Looky what we’ve got goin’ on with our pool. 14 weeks in the books:
Player | Week 11 | Week 12 | Week 13 | Week 14 | Total |
marta lacor | 11* | 13* | 11* | 14* | 132 |
PhiloDave | 7 | 13* | 11* | 10 | 132 |
Chicago Realist | 11* | 9 | 11* | 13 | 131 |
Mathissexy | 8 | 5 | 7 | 12 | 111 |
MrDrProf | 0 | 12 | 9 | 0 | 6 |
I’ve trimmed the chart to show the activity from the last 4 weeks. The asterisk indicates the weekly points leader.
Wow, wow, wow! Marta has come out of nowhere to make this one heck of a finish! What a tight race. No, I ain’t rulin’ Mathissexy out yet. These last two weeks are gonna be interesting. If it’s one thing I’ve learned, is that there is no such thing as a sure win for any team (that’s right, I’m talkin’ ’bout them Packers too!). I’ve also learned that ain’t no such thing as loyalty to a team that’s lost their quarterback when you’re trying to win this pool.
Still want to join just for the heck of it?

More updates to follow as needed. Anypeep care to put Monopoly money on the Packers going undefeated? I got a blue 50 that says those Dolphins will pop that bottle of champagne. Again.
Happy for the good luck with football but best of last weekend was Real Madrid 1 – Barcelona 3.
Futbol trumps football. Perhaps. I wasn’t able to watch the game but I did have some students talking about it. Hope you enjoyed it from start to finish!
So, what do you think of MSL? A watered-down version of the European league(s) or not?
I would take any Vikings, Colts, or Rams game before any MSL. I’m getting ready for Barcelona – Santos on Sunday, Club World Cup final, Messi vs. Neymar.
That’s what I thought. MSL has a ways to go before it is in the same league as the Europeans.
Remember when the NFL tried to have a European league? I guess it’s a similar situation.
Still, some soccer in the US is better than no soccer. I can’t wait to see some of our young athletes build their skills to put MSL over the top. Perhaps a Messi-like talented player is out there now…
The Colts? Really? 🙂
Thanks for the feedback!
I remember the Barcelona Dragons. The jersey was really nice, the players…
Jon Kitna, Brian Finneran, Keith Traylor, Reggie Brooks…not all bad.
The uniforms, though…to quote Charles Barkley, “Terrible.”
Enjoy your time with a share of the lead, for starting this weekend, I must break you like David Villa’s tibia (figuratively speaking of course).
Oh, snap!
We have very good players to replace Villa with FC Barcelona, I don´t care that much about the Euro2012 this summer.
I enjoy the few football games I get to watch and I hope I can keep up with you. Maybe you are lucky and I get confused with the time difference and forget to make my picks.
Get ready for a Champions League Pool!
In!
Count me in as well! Nothin’ like predicting outcomes of events that are unpredictable.
(I would NEVER have guessed France in in 98. A small part of me thought conspiracy, but that was then.)
Hey PhiloDave, wanna take me up on that Monopoly Money bet on the Packers or did you spend it all on Boardwalk and Park Place?
16 wins for the Packers, very predictable.
See, I’m talkin’ ’bout the regular season AND the playoffs now.
Still predictable, Marta? If so, how much Monopoly Money* you puttin’ in?
*I use the term ‘Monopoly Money’ to mean fake money. I wouldn’t bet any real cash. So if you win, you give yourself a pat on the back. You don’t win, well, you can still pat yourself on the back for not having lost any cash. It’s all just fun and games. 😉
Go to Vegas if you want the real deal ’cause you won’t find it here. Besides, I don’t have any friends named ‘Muscles’ or ‘Bruiser’ to go collectin’ if you ain’t paid up.
Kansas? Really? Wow. marta talks only soccer from now on: Santos 0 Barcelona 4.
Any given Sunday…
BTW, It was a former Bears QB that took the Packers down.
Yes, the Bears lost too. There go my picks for the week.
