You remember her, right? Former Secretary of Education for George Bush (#43) and education expert who has been most newsworthy over the last year or so for her latest book and research-based resistance to many of the reforms she once advocated?
Anyway, she has some stuff about Chicago on her blog that you might find interesting:
~Why the Chicago Teachers Union Deserves Support;
~The Most Segregated Big City Districts in the Nation (We’re #1!);
~A Little Bit on the History of Education Reform (not exactly about Chicago, but relevant);
~A Reading List about Education Reform (same as above);
Good stuff, PhiloDave. Hope you don’t mind the post I put up.
I wonder how many faculty have read at least one book from the reading list about education reform. In all honesty, I saw several titles I am familiar with, but have only read a couple of the books.
Hope this strike ends soon.
