One thought on “What do you do in the 10 minutes before class?”
When I am at my best, I calmly sit and reflect what I will say, the order in which I will say, and try to anticipate students’ responses. I prefer to have my session’s notes in my mind, rather than on paper, so that my mind stays more engaged with the material, and that I am more reactive to my students’ comments. In a class where so much depends on your students having an interesting conversation, so much depends on flexibility and thoughtfulness, and very little benefit comes from sticking to a set plan.
